earth 2007-2021

earth comprises different series that honour our homeplanet earth, her planetary consciousness and her material appearance. all series have in common the use of various coloured earth pigments/metals from around the world with special focus on red ochre, an earth pigment that has had a sacred and unique  status in many cultures all over the world - from prehistory to now.

series "goddess" explores the connection between planet earth and wo:men and the ancient tradition of matriarchy: 10 women from different countries representing planet earth as the feeder and carer of mankind, our universal mother, were covered in earth pigment and their bodies printed on canvas.

series "cycle of life&death" shows the neverending spiralling flow of life&death as an endless birth process from one dimension to the other.

series "Terra": earth pigments reveal the information they hold.

"Earth´s  wake up call" is an installation symbolizing the vanity and fragility of our species: in front of mother earth´s big heart hangs a ball of clay on a thin, red thread.

"Mother Earth knows no frontiers" is an installation that consists of 26 pieces and shows an earthen head exhaling into the cosmos - our planet is not a dead rock but a conscious living organism whose creatures/fractal mini copies we are - what we do to the planet, we do to ourselves. what we do to ourselves, we do to the planet. frontiers - be they cultural, political, geographical, religious, social - are in fact merely a construct of man´s mind.
